Who's using who? m4w I find myself asking this question today. Having ended an eight year relationship a few months back, I find myself absolutely disgusted by the mid 30's dating scene. My last relationship started the way they are supposed to. We met while out doing other things, and it blossomed into something where we were both crazily in love with each other, and time spent apart was painful. We just could not get enough. Now everything seems to be online, and pragmatic. Every time I go on a date, I feel like I'm not with someone looking for that crazy wonderful love, but rather some crazy biological clock monster just sizing me up for what I can give her. A baby or two and a breadwinner. It disgusts me. Men have for centuries been accused of trying to just using woman for sex. I ask you, what is worse? Using someone for one night, or using them for the rest of their lives. I want, nay, demand someone who likes me for who I am. for my little quirks, my personality, who likes to talk until the wee hours of the night and who I feel the same way about. Someone I am so crazy in love with, I can't stand to not see them, even if it's only for the hours I am at work. With this person I would do anything, including start a family. I do not want, and will vehemently refuse to see anyone I suspect of just pragmatiy sizing me up just for my family making abilities. If you are being pragmatic, it is not, and can not be love. it winds up being something closer to an arranged marriage, or worse yet, prostitution. If that's all you want, then quite frankly you AND your biological clock can go jump off a bridge. I would sooner die alone than live that kind of farce.

Looking to salvage this rainy Sunday
This weather is a bit depressing, I have my first Sunday of no responsibilities in a while and I don't feel like spending it in my apartment watching old reruns. The only thing I have on my schedule for today is to get to the gym in the next 15 minutes or so and then I'm pretty much free for the rest of the day. I usually just read posts here on Craigslist for entertainment purposes but I figured this might be an opportune time to see if this actually works. I was thinking that maybe it would fun to meet up for a few drinks somewhere local here in Astoria later this afternoon to see if we might have a connection. If we hit it off we could go grab a bottle of wine and maybe head back to one of our apartments to watch a movie and hang in. I am 30 years old, swm, I'd normally say that I'm too smart, and too awesome to be posting on Craigslist and I'm hoping to meet someone who feels the same way but who also thinks that maybe this could make for a more interesting way of spending a Sunday than hiding from the rain, and who also figures that worst case scenario we'd both come away at least knowing one more person in our neighborhood. Some things that I usually like to do for fun, I like to get drinks with friends, check out new restaurants in the neighborhood, I'm a bit of a movie junkie I watch even the bad ones, I love sports but its okay if you don't, and I hate wasting perfectly good days off from work hiding in my apartment from the rain.
